Kept getting the same error. So for example the area for track 3 of the CD gets damaged, the drive remaps the track to a blank section and gives it the label of track 3. They're designed with a shock threshold and movement to the spinning platters will affect it. Ran the recovery, same error. useful reference

I have 2 copies of the Toshiba Recovery CDs and had used both to make sure it wasn't a CD error. Maybe it was because of the DVD's and now I am using the recovery partition. I am now getting this error, while using the Toshiba recovery Wizard.

It ran fine and I ran chkdsk /f /r and found no bad sectors. But if the disk is damaged the number reallocations will spike and the drive will warn you about a potential failure soon. Seems like a waste to toss a laptop that looks to be pretty recent. LH, I'm going to give it a shot and create a repair disk. I'm going to have a tech check it out, but is there something I can do? A liitle tip, if you can afford it, always buy disks in pairs. 2 disks same make/model from the same batch. I will refresh the website and it will redirect again.
