But I'm pretty sure the ablitliiy to boot using a USB stick or USB drive is disabled too!

I can get to Chimera now, but can't get any farther (despite using all of the recommended boot flags).
You'll need to set the on board video ram parameter as per tonymacs guide, and make sure the integrated perishables section of bios has use on board graphics enabled.

Once in the installer I copied over the OSInstall.mpkg whbich meant I could then deselect only ONE core package (the one for additional voices (see post above) which allowed the install What did you change in BIOS!!!!!
